Financial market conference in Berlin – Focus on EU Capital Markets Union and FinTech

The financial sector is in a time of a fundamental change:  Extensive regulation and a historically low rates environment have not only changed the profitability of single markets, but have questioned the sustainability of business models overall. In addition, the appearance of Fintech  and business disruptive technologies have put further pressure to financial institutions. Therefore, business and politics should act in common responsibility to ensure stability, capability, innovation and trust.

The Economic Council was therefore hosting a conference with high ranking selected decision makers in politics and industry and discussed the strategic guidelines of financial market policy. For example, Valdis Dombrovskis (EU commission), Dr. Jens Weidmann (President of the Bundesbank), Klaas Knot (President of the Dutch central bank), Andrew Bailey (CEO of the FCA), Dr. Theodor Weimer (CEO of HVB) und Georg Fahrenschon (President of the German Savings Banks Association) have attended the conference.
